Helvetica is a sans serif typeface that we are particularly fond of and have used in several of our typography designs, This clean, no-fuss font is also one of the most popular and famous in the world. Designed in 1957 by Max Miedinger for the Haas Type Foundry in Switzerland, Helvetica is an adaption of the Latin name for Switzerland “Helvetia”. It has been used in many corporate logos, by Nasa on space shuttles and the U.S. government on federal income tax forms. We love it’s modern, bold simplicity and how it contradicts the elaborate background of the still life composition by Abraham Mignon.
The perfect shade of ‘griege’, Slate V from Paint & Paper Library is a favourite warm-grey colour of ours for interior walls and to use in our handprinted artwork. It has the slightest green tone in some lights which we love and no lilac tone which you often get with greys.
We LOVE seeing our prints professionally framed to suit different interiors; it is an artwork in itself. For this Colour Pop (green and red) we had it float-mounted and chose a tulip box frame, in Ash for a natural look. The shadow echos the shadow on the piece.
